TCS to set up 50 acre campus in Pune

Tata Consultancy Services, the leading global IT services and consultancy organization, announced that it had signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra government to acquire 50 acres of land to develop a state-of-the-art development facility in Hinjewadi Phase III, which is part of an MIDC-promoted Special Economic Zone.

TCS will invest up to INR 500 crore in the facility to create a capacity of 5,000 seats. In the long-term, there are plans to ramp-up the centre’s capacity to 10,000 seats. In addition to a software development centre, the new Hinjewadi facility will also house professionals from TCS’s R&D and Engineering services’ groups.

According to the MoU signed by chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD, TCS, the Maharashtra government will help facilitate acquisition suitable land at Hinjewadi, provide infrastructural support through Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and other related agencies as well as provide a Single Window Clearance support for quick, easy and efficient implementation of the project. The project will be part of an SEZ and be eligible for all requisite incentives as per the state’s policy.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh reviews the progress of implementation of NREGA program

Honorable Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh during his visit to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on May 20, 2006, reviewed the progress of implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). Mr. G Ramanathan, Regional Head, TCS Hyderabad briefed the Indian Prime Minister on the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution developed by TCS.

The Prime Minister showed a keen interest in understanding the finer aspects of how TCS’ solution helps in the successful implementation of NREGA. TCS shall be working with the Prime Minister’s Office to replicate the Andhra Pradesh’s success story in all other states of India.

The Prime Minister commended TCS’s contribution to the upliftment of rural India by developing software that will benefit them.
