U.S. intelligence unveils spy version of Wikipedia

The U.S. intelligence community on Tuesday unveiled its own secretive version of Wikipedia, saying the popular online encyclopedia format known for its openness is key to the future of American espionage.

The office of U.S. intelligence czar John Negroponte announced Intellipedia, which allows intelligence analysts and other officials to collaboratively add and edit content on the government’s classified Intelink Web much like its more famous namesake on the World Wide Web.

A “top secret” Intellipedia system, currently available to the 16 agencies that make up the U.S. intelligence community, has grown to more than 28,000 pages and 3,600 registered users since its introduction on April 17. Less restrictive versions exist for “secret” and “sensitive but unclassified” material.

Indian origin teenager to contest Finnish polls

Helsinki, Nov 1 (IANS) Alisha Hasan, 18, is quite unlike other teenagers in Finland, not because she was born in India and is a member of the small Indian community here. She will be one of the youngest candidates contesting Finland’s parliamentary polls next year.

‘I will be contesting polls from Helsinki. I am hopeful of being backed by one of the prominent political parties. I think I can win if I can get a good campaign manager,’ Hasan told a visiting IANS correspondent. ‘I am trying to raise funds needed to contest the polls, and the response so far has been quite encouraging. I have already started my campaign,’ she added. Incidentally, politics is not the only passion this teenager has. ‘I am already a film director. Last year I directed a Finnish film.
