With a strong presence in the sugar, engineering and textile industry, Kolhapur is now keen on becoming an IT destination as tier I cities reach saturation point.

The city’s members of the Promoters and Builders Association of Kolhapur (PBAK) along with Software Technology Park of India (STPI) are developing 80 acres for IT parks and have an additional 100 acres of land available for companies interested in developing their own campus.

Besides, the various stakeholders like the Shivaji University, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Nasscom and government officials, including the municipal commissioner of Kolhapur are supporting the venture.

Over the last 12 months six companies have set up operations in the STPI incubator and now employ over 230 people….
