From November, rail sundaris to welcome passengers and serve snacks on Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express

The ‘rail-hostesses’ who will be deployed on select trains will be dressed in smart blue trousers, white shirts and waistcoats.

Railway officials said the uniform was chosen keeping in mind the difficulties of working on a running train. “They cannot wear saris or skirts like air-hostesses because of the train’s movement but the alternative had to be attractive.

“This uniform was finalised keeping in mind decent appearance and comfort of the hostesses,” a senior official said. The first batch of rail-hostesses have been deployed on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR). However, Mumbaikars will get a firsthand experience only in November when they will begin attending to passengers in A/C two-tier coaches on the Rajdhani Express trains running between Mumbai and Delhi.

Their job will be similar to that of air-hostesses. They will welcome passengers, serve snacks and meals. For overnight journeys, they will provide blankets and address passengers’ grievances.
Sanjay Goswami, manager, KBS Tours and Travels, which provided the first batch of rail-hostesses, says, “The aim is to match up to the air travel experience by improving the quality of on-board services. So far, the rail-hostesses have received a good response and lived up to the expectations of passengers.”

The company is deploying rail-hostesses in phases.
They will be introduced on the Kanchan Kanya Express and North Bengal Express on September 26 and on the Delhi-Sealdah Samparkranti Express and Delhi-Guwahati Samparkranti Express in October.

Teenager murders 10-yr-old over an iPod

New Delhi: In Siri, West Bengal, a 14-year-old boy has been arrested on charges of murdering a 10-year-old girl – all for an iPod.

The victim, Seouli Dolui, a Class 5 student, was found dead near the Tilpara barrage after her parents filed a missing person’s report. She reportedly died after sustaining head injuries.

The accused, a Class 8 student, who was known to her family, took Seouli for a bicycle ride on Sunday afternoon. He allegedly pushed her over the barrage following an altercation over the electronic gadget which belonged to her and which she refused to part with.

The accused has, reportedly, confessed to the crime before the police. However, the police are not saying anything solid as of now.

Birbhum Superintendent of Police, Lakshmi Kant Meena says, “We have learnt about the incident and the investigations are on. We can’t say anything till the investigation is over.”, the victim’s father, Swapan Dolhi, has squarely placed the blamed on the boy and has demanded that swift action be taken to ensure justice.

One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus,and Drove off along the route.

No problems for the first few stops -a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.
At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a guy got on.Six feet eight,built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground.He glared at the driver and said, “Big John doesn’t pay!” and sat down at the back.

Did I mention that the driver was five feet three, thin, and basically meek?

Well, he was. Naturally, he didn’t argue with Big John, but he wasn’t happy about it.

The next day the same thing happened – Big John got on again, made a show of refusing to pay, and sat down.And the next day, and the next! This grated on the bus driver, who started losing sleep over the way Big John was taking advantage of him. Finally he could stand it no longer. He signed up for body building courses, karate, judo, and all that good stuff.

By the end of the summer, he had become quite strong; what’s more, he felt really good about himself. So on the next Monday, when Big John once again got on the bus and said, “Big John doesn’t pay!”

The driver stood up, glared back at him, and screamed, “And why not?” With a surprised look on his face, Big John replied, “Big John has a bus pass.”

Management Lesson: “Be sure there is a problem in the first place before working very hard to solve one.”

Bala won’t win a medal but he will make India proud

There will be a first at the Beijing Olympics for India â€“ L Balasubramanium, a sports fitness trainer, is heading to the Olympics and he is the first Indian trainer to be part of the Games.

â€œI am completely over the moon. Words cannot explain my happiness after I heard that I have been selected for Olympics,â€ Balasubramanium said.

There is more to this trainer than his child-like exuberance. Balasubramanium will be one of only 10 trainers at the Beijing Olympics and he credits his daughter for his success. Bala had to beat around 5,000 applicants to earn this once in a lifetime opportunity.

â€œI just applied for it and then the entire process began. The good news came on my daughterâ€™s birthday,â€ Balasubramanium said.

Bala is presently managing the leisure centre at the Amby Valley City. Apart from being involved in wellness centres, he has in the past trained athletes and cricket league teams too but the Olympics is as big as it gets for him.

â€œIt is the biggest platform to learn. I will be looking and learning from athletes from all over the world,â€ he said.

The trainer also has a ready list of athletes with whom he would love to work. â€œIt will be my biggest challenge if I can train Asafa Powell or Tyson Gay,â€ he said.

Bala won’t win a medal but you can be sure that he will make India proud. Hereâ€™s wishing him the very best.

After silence for short period, the terrorists are again back to their inhuman activities by planting Bombs and brutally killing the innocent people from one state to another in India.

The news channels or communication medias are interested only in publicizing the negative side of such happenings such as exhibiting the terrifying photos, teaching all ‘how to make a bomb at home’ and giving news with self imagination of facts, with the very purpose of developing fearsome emotions, and disturbing public mind just to get higher TRPs for that moment. This is what the terrorists exactly want too. They want to create a situation of this nature and chaos of this kind.

Does it has only side? There is another side of the coin too. For example, if we see the situation of Ahmedabad, there were about 17 blasts (some say 16 and some 18) on Saturday the 26th July 2008 within a span of two hours, killing more than 60 persons and injuring more than 100 persons.

If you see the roads, business premises, offices and industrial areas in the morning on Monday 28th July 2008 amidst the overnight heavy rainfall and water logging, everything seems to be totally normal and things move without any interruption, which means people have brought up their minds to overcome any such situation to fight against terrorism, without any caste, creed or religion.

The medias should take a note of it and should come out with such kind of news and also give the photos of the roads, streets of the normal Ahmedabad in TV Channels and other medias so that Terrorists will also think several times before committing any crimes.

With all due respect and prayers for the ones injured and more, I salute the spirit of Ahmedabad. This at an individual level is the best act of ‘Anti-Terrorism’ in itself.
